Did You Know?

Did you know that the world's biggest tree is a Red Wood?
It can live up to 2000 years old.
The tallest known Red Wood stood 379.1 feet.
It grows higher than London's Big Ben clock tower.
20 children holding hands can go around it.
I chose this because I have one at my house but it is only 100 years old.

The NZ Fruit Bat

If you have lived in New Zealand for a long time you would have probably seen a NZ Fruit Bat. These 3 facts are probably the most interesting facts you have ever heard about a NZ Fruit Bat.
Firstly, they use their teeth to crush food like bananas, figs, grapes, nectar and much more. Their children drink their mothers milk.
Secondly, of course NZ Fruit Bats live in NZ but really they live together in caves and they hang upside down on the ceiling of their cave.
Lastly, this is how they fly, they have skin on their wings which helps them fly and they spread their wings out and flap.
Those are three good reasons why I like NZ Fruit Bats!

My Be Funky

Room 2 and 1 have been doing Be Funky on the computer at school. Be Funky is a website that allows you to change yourself in to anything you want, like a cartoon, a monster, dots, stripes and much more! My favourite one is where you can change yourself  into different colors!
There were no computers in the olden days, Andy Warhol, an American artist, painted pictures just like the Be Funky ones. He did Pop Art. The Most expensive was $100 million US dollars in 1963 on a canvas called Eight Elvises

Tineisha's Birthday

On Saturday I went to Tineisha's birthday party. Firstly Tineisha opened her presents, she got a really cool  iPad and lots and lots of nail-polish!. Then we played a game of netball but instead of shooting the goals you had to throw the ball over the cones or hit them. At 6.00 we watched a movie and got our hair chalked. After the movie it was funny because when I asked everybody if they wanted to play spot light they all went meeee! And put their hands up! I enjoyed Tineisha's birthday because it was funny and enjoyable!

Learning About Birds

On the 8th of August Room 2 went to the Museum to learn about birds and learn how the fly. We learnt that ducklings and chicks have a down coat that keeps them warm, fantails have great reflexes and hawks use the wind to keep them off the ground. I really enjoyed going to the museum and I hope I can go again!
